This weeks is hunt for powerful gear has Spider sending you to chase down the Gravetide Summoner on Titan. Once you pick up the bounty for five Ghost Fragments, head below deck on The Rig. The recommended light is 540 so if you’re under that we recommend brining a fellow guardian. The Gravetide Summoner can’t be directly damaged for most of the fight, rather she’s immobilized and protected by the Gravetide Ogre. The fight has three damage phases with the Ogre in which waves of thralls and knights intermittently attack you. The Gravetide Summoner will begin to shoot at guardians in the last phase. Kill the ogre first and the rest of the fight is over quickly. We earned the Scatterhorn Robe which is a chest piece for Warlock.

ALC: Canon EOS R: Canon Debuts New Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera System
The wait is over! Canon users have long been clamoring for a full-frame mirrorless camera from the brand, and today we finally get our first look at the EOS R—Canon’s first full-frame mirrorless camera and lens system.
Canon has officially debuted their new EOS R mirrorless camera, which boasts a 30.3MP full-frame sensor and the brand’s DIGIC 8 image processor. But more importantly, it features Canon’s new “game-changing” RF lens mount….READ MORE
Discovering Canon’s New EOS R System
Meet Canon’s new addition to the EOS System, the EOS R camera. The foundation of this system is an entirely new lens mount, designed for optical excellence today and incredible optical potential for the future.
Be the Revolution
Get ready to capture a variety of subjects in many different environments. Versatility is key with the EOS R; a 30.3 Megapixel Full-frame CMOS sensor and the DIGIC 8 Image Processor deliver stellar low-light performance, even in dark situations. Focus can be attained with incredible speed and accuracy thanks to Canon’s proprietary Dual Pixel CMOS AF system and a maximum of 5,655 manually selectable AF points*. This system also captures smooth 4K video that’s easy to share and can be enhanced in post-production thanks to the included Canon Log. The built-in, high-precision EVF and a Vari-angle Touchscreen LCD make it easy to adapt to different shooting situations. In daylight or in the dark, in the studio or on the street, the EOS R’s lightweight, intuitive and durable design means strong performance and gorgeous results.
Whether capturing landscapes or wildlife, wedding portraits or dance performances, the EOS R is an advanced and impressive imaging tool that’s primed to deliver the stunning photos and videos that photographers, moviemakers and any visual storytellers need to make their stories fly. Witness a new beginning with the EOS R and be the revolution.
* Available AF points may decrease when shooting with AF cropping or in movie mode, or depending on camera settings or lens attached.
Compatible with EF/EF-S Lenses*
Whether you’re purchasing your first EOS camera or your fifth, the EOS R camera is designed to integrate smoothly into existing EOS systems. Engineered to work seamlessly with RF lenses, it maintains complete compatibility with EF and EF-S lenses by using one of three optional Mount Adapters. When using EF-S lenses, the EOS R even crops automatically to reflect the APS-C sized sensor the lenses are designed for.
* Optional Mount Adapter EF-EOS R is required when using EF/EF-S lenses with an EOS R camera.
54mm Large Diameter and Short Back Focus
The RF mount on the EOS R camera has a large, 54mm internal diameter that enables impressive handling and provides increased flexibility for lens design. And thanks to the camera’s mirrorless design, the lens’s rear element can be much closer to the image plane. This reduced back focus distance, combined with the RF mount’s 54mm diameter, helps facilitate lenses of stellar optical quality and stunning performance while enabling innovative compact camera and lens designs.
20mm Flange Focal Distance with Robustness for Professional Use
All RF lenses feature a 20mm flange focal distance, which is the distance from the lens mount to the surface of the image sensor. This flange focal distance balances the benefits of short back focus with the engineering requirements necessary for mount stability. Accordingly, the RF mount’s flange focal distance ensures excellent optical performance while maintaining the mount rigidity and camera durability necessary for real-world operation.
12 Pins for Quickly Communicating Large Amounts of Information
With a robust 12 pin connection between the camera and the lens, the EOS R camera and RF lenses are able to communicate at a higher speed, transmitting a larger amount of data and information for incredibly fast AF, plus enhanced image stabilization and optimization.
Variety of Mount Adapter Options for Expanded Compatibility with EF/EF-S Lenses
Mount adapters, such as the Mount Adapter EF-EOS R, deliver seamless connections between the EOS R camera and EF and EF-S lenses with all functions intact. Offering L series level weather and dust sealing, the Mount Adapter EF-EOS R is even compatible with EF extenders like the Extender EF 1.4x III to extend your camera’s optical reach. With an entire arsenal of EF and EF-S lenses at your disposal, the Mount Adapter EF-EOS R and other mount adapters ensure endless creative possibilities for the EOS R camera.

Hello Kickstarter. We are Venus Optics. We are a team of photography enthusiasts and industry experts who aims to provide new tools for you to enjoy photography. Over the last 4 years, we have launched some very unique glasses to the market. This time, we are proud to introduce one of the weirdest but most genius macro lens ever, Laowa 24mm f/14 Probe.
Canon EF, Nikon F, Sony FE, Arri PL mounts are available.
WHAT’S SO REVOLUTIONAL ABOUT THE LAOWA PROBE?
Macro lenses in the market tend to have a long focal length (from 60mm to 120mm) and the subject fills most of the frame, isolating it from the surrounding environment. Our Laowa 24mm, instead, allows you to focus really close (2cm @ 2:1) to the subject, showing a great amount of detail and texture. But at the same time, you can enjoy a compelling wide angle ‘Bug Eye’ view (84.1°) so that more background details can then be included in the shots. You can easily create a very informative and stunning macro bug-eye perspective that no other lenses can do. The fact that it can focus really close to the subject enables a lot of shooting possibility.
As macro photographers ourselves, we usually face the problem of not being able to shoot smaller subjects. With our Laowa probe, you can now take advantage of the 2:1 maximum magnification to shoot really small bugs and reveal details that cannot be seen by naked eye. It is particularly useful for videography as both finer details and environmental background can be captured in one shot.
The wide angle design also means much more depth of field at close distance (compared to the telephoto macro lens) so that more background details can now be seen. Being able to focus so close but still having a deep depth of field is a BIG advantage for both studio and wildlife shooting.
For example, the bug below is around 4mm big and it was captured by our 24mm f/14 Probe at 2:1 Macro magnification. The greater DOF allows more leaves area to be clear in comparison to telephoto lens.
The less blurry background allows the habitat of the subject to be included in your photo.
Do not understand this weird design? For traditional macro lenses, you need to get so close to your subject in order to take a good macro shot but some areas are just simply inaccessible. Thanks to the 40cm (15.7″) long barrel, you can focus really close to the subject but still keep yourself and your camera distance away. This feature is super useful and makes your macro shooting so much easier. Imagine how convenient it will be to shoot a frog hiding in the bushes using our Probe lens, compared to getting your typical 100mm macro lens super close to it to avoid leaves blocking your subject.
Shooting lethal snakes? No problem. The long lens barrel also allows us to keep a safe distance away from shooting lethal snakes. Your big camera body and lens will no longer ‘alert’ your subject too.
From a filmmaking perspective, the Tubular Lens barrel also allows shooting a lot of “slide in” shots through tiny areas. Imagine sliding the lens between candles on your birthday cake or sliding the lens inside a drink bottle. Something that no other lenses in this earth can do. Our opening product showcase shot in the main video was also shot with this technique.
Getting proper lighting onto the subject is not always an easy task for macro photography. Typical macro lenses have large lens barrels (at least 60mm or above in diameter), blocking most of the light from hitting the subject. Our Laowa probe, on the other hand, features a 20mm diameter lens tip which makes it super easy to get sufficient illumination.
The tiny 0.2cm in diameter lens tip unlocks the possibility to get really close to your subject (OR very low to the ground level) to capture a ‘delicious’ perspective never seen before and maximise the visual impact . Your viewers are literally like walking on the pizza now.
You think this is cool enough? Think again. In order to bring you an even more exciting perspective and take your photos or video to the next level, we have made the front barrel of the Laowa probe waterproof. The waterproof design also implies shooting in dusty environment or with fine powders are not going to be a problem anymore. You can literally use it ANYWHERE.
P.S. The waterproof front barrel cover is not removable in the final version.
What, its a f/14 not f/1.4? Why is there a LED ring light at the front? Macro photography are about Depth of Field and so smaller aperture is usually used. A LED ring light (powered through the micro-usb slot on the barrel) is embedded in the lens tip to provide additional lighting for focus assistance. In most cases, the more lighting you have on your subject, the better your shot will look.
The Laowa 24mm f/14 Probe can cover both the standard 35mm full frame & Super35 image sensor.
With so many features equipped in one lens, Is this thing going to weigh as heavy as a big rock? Despite the weird look and long tubular tube, the Laowa probe is actually super light and easy to carry. It weighs only 1.04 pounds (474 grams), even lighter than a bottle of Coke.
From indie to professional. From macro to wide angle. From still to video. From studio to wildlife. This lens is designed for everyone. This lens is designed to bring each and every photographer and videographer a new striking perspective to shoot. Are your ready to infuse your creativity into this lens and create shots that nobody has seen before?

The KOBRA was designed to give photographers an effective modified flash solution that is lightweight, flexible and with a sleek design. Professional photographer, Paul McKelvey, conceived the idea for KOBRA through his disappointment in the current market. “I have used all the ‘on camera flash’ modifiers that are available and have been unsatisfied with the results. I decided to stop complaining and make my own.” Paul McKelvey
KOBRA Flash Modifier!
If you backed us on our earlier campaign, we want to thank you and say welcome back! If this is new to you, we are proud to introduce the KOBRA.
The KOBRA was made to give photographers an effective flash modifier solution that is lightweight, flexible and with an attractive design.
As a professional photographer, I have used all the “on camera flash” modifiers that are available and have been unsatisfied with the results. I decided to stop complaining and make my own.
Prototype – Patent Pending
The KOBRA Flash Modifier is molded from a high-grade, flexible, light diffusing clear silicone that is not affected by high or low temperatures. This allows the KOBRA Flash Modifier to bounce back to its originally molded shape after being folded from storing in your camera bag.
Making sure the KOBRA was aesthetically pleasing front & back was paramount in the early design process.
The KOBRA Flash Modifier gets its backbone from the patent-pending built-in reflector. The reflector bounces the light forward through the clear silicone, acting as a second layer of diffusion, giving the photographer the ability to “paint with the light, not spray.”
KOBRA’s light is bounced forward and not wasted.
The problem with most modifiers, light is sprayed everywhere.
The KOBRA Modifier & Band weighs in at a mere 4.3oz!
The KOBRA is super light on your flash.
KOBRA gets its backbone from the built-in reflector, which is white inside with a black exterior.
First Time Using Flash in Event Photography
Photographer Cole Ferguson was shooting an event and asked if he could borrow the KOBRA Flash Modifier prototype. The resulting images are remarkable from a photographer who is a self-proclaimed newbie to event photography. The KOBRA allowed him to be in control of capturing moments that otherwise would have been lost to low light conditions. This is why we made KOBRA.
With the KOBRA – Nice light, soft hair & skin tones.
Without the KOBRA – Direct flash is a good light for a police mug shot!
In most cases, there are no white walls or ceilings to bounce off of. That is where the KOBRA Flash Modifier is a game-changer. Now, you are walking around with your own wall.
The KOBRA flash modifier generates softer fabric & skin tones.
“One step closer” you get soft shadows with your subject.
Even with the advanced technology of today’s cameras, low light conditions subject your images to movement or noise. To avoid this scenario, you need to bring light to the party. You need the KOBRA Flash Modifier.
The KOBRA Band is molded from a high-grade, flexible, black silicone that is not affected by high or low temperatures. The KOBRA Band fits most flash heads. It’s simple and self-contained with no need for hook-and-loop or magnet attachments.
KOBRA Band
Incorporated into the design of the KOBRA Band are vent holes to allow air to circulate over the flash head and assist with preventing the potential for overheating.
Air Vents help with air flow.
Will fit almost all flash heads.
The KOBRA Band not only holds the KOBRA Flash Modifier but also multitasks by securing our KOBRA Color Gel System.
KOBRA Color Gel’s System
The KOBRA flash modifier is light & flexible and easy to pack.
One of the first questions we are asked when meeting professional photographers who have seen the working prototype is, “Where can I get one?”
The KOBRA Flash Modifier is used off camera on a light-stand, which offers greater coverage than direct flash.
Event Photography Video – Off Camera Flash “Painting with Light.”
Above is a short video to demonstrate the quality of light you get from hand holding the KOBRA Flash Modifier. At the start of the video, the camera was set on a tripod and the modifier is used on the right side, then the left side. The equipment used was a Canon 6DMarkII with a combination of different speed lights, including Canon 600EX RTII with the Canon ST-E3-RT and Godox v860II with the Godox Xpro-C TLL.

Optical SteadyShot™ Image stabilization
Built-in Optical SteadyShot™ image stabilization technology – developed exclusively by Sony – pre-vents image blurring that can occur from hand-held still and movie shooting, especially in low light or at the far telephoto end of the zoom range. Image stabilization is equivalent to a faster shutter speed of 4.0 stops* at 200mm** telephoto, and ensures smooth, stable framing and excellent image quality.
*CIPA-standard, pitch/yaw directions, at 200mm (35mm format equivalent).
**35mm format equivalent.
Touch Focus and Touch Pad AF
Fast, simple, intuitive AF: With the Touch Focus function. Simply touch the LCD screen at the point in the image where you want to focus when you’re shooting stills or movies. When you’re monitoring with the viewfinder, the Touch Pad function lets you slide a finger on the LCD screen to shift focus. You can also set preferences according to which eye and hand you want to use and how far to reach your finger.
Touch Shutter on Tilt-able LCD monitor
For the first time in the RX series, the LCD monitor now incorporates the Touch Shutter, which allows you to intuitively activate the shutter simply by touching a point on the monitor. This makes it easier to shoot a scene when it might otherwise be difficult to press the shutter button, such as when shooting from high or low angles.
The tilt angle of the monitor has also been expanded, so you can tilt the monitor roughly 180° upwards and 90° downwards, to enable monitoring of the subject for selfies or even when you’re holding the camera high overhead above a crowd.
Retractable OLED w/ EVF benefits and optical viewfinder immediacy
The new RX100 VI maintains the convenient pocket-sized design of the RX100 family and is equipped with a high-contrast 2.35 million dot XGA OLED Tru-Finder™ electronic viewfinder, ensuring true-to-life image preview and playback functionality. With a single push, the EVF conveniently pops-up and automatically extends the eye-piece. It features optics with ZEISS® T* coating that greatly reduces reflections. It has the ability to deliver continuous live shooting at up to 8fps – making it easy to track fast moving subjects. This offers photographers a shooting experience with the immediacy of an optical viewfinder, while still offering all of the benefits of an electronic viewfinder including a live preview of exposure, white balance and several other camera settings.
Advanced Eye AF ideal for portrait shots
The Eye AF function has excellent tracking performance and a high degree of accuracy and stability as it automatically focuses on a subject’s eyes, even when the subject is looking down or away from the camera, or is in backlit scenes when the face of the subject is in partial darkness
High speed Anti-Distortion Shutter
The high speed – up to 1/32,000 sec. – Anti-Distortion Shutter, minimizes the “rolling shutter” effect commonly experienced with fast moving subjects. This blazingly fast shutter speed also allows the camera to capture sharp, crystal clear images with a wide open aperture at brightness levels. Shooting at wide aperture with fast shutter speed allows photographers and videographers to capture beautiful content with sharply focused subjects and defocused backgrounds under some of the most difficult, bright lighting conditions.

According to Engadget (This article and its images were originally posted on Engadget June 29, 2018 at 08:39PM.)
At CES this January, Qualcomm introduced the QCC5100 chipset built to improve battery life, reception and processing power of wireless earbuds. Now the company has announced a cheaper version, the QCC3026, intended to make it easier for device companies to make their own entry-level and mid-tier Bluetooth-connected audio devices — especially as proprietary buds bundled with phones.
Per Qualcomm’s press release, its new chip offers improved connectivity between each earbud and to their paired smartphone, as well as good audio quality. It also better balances power distribution of the two buds, which should lower consumption for longer battery life. The company intends to make the chip’s designs available to device manufacturers in the second half of 2018 so they can make their own earbuds, but one has already put it to work. Oppo is using the QCC3026 in its O-Free, and as The Vergereports, those wireless earbuds will be bundled with the Lamborghini edition of the company’s flagship Find X smartphone. The O-Free will be available on its own in August for 699 Yuan (about $106).

Capsule360 is a motion box that combines multiple operating modes in a single unit. It has 3-Axis Motion capability with SLIDE, PAN and TILT moves. Capsule360 also offers Smart Object Tracking, Enhanced Time-Lapse Modes, 360° Product Photography, Star Tracking for Astrophotography, Panorama and much more.
Capsule360 is compatible with all kind of video devices such as smartphones, action cameras, and SLR or Mirrorless Cameras serving advanced video and time lapse motion modes.
Full resolution photos and the Press Kit can be found in the Dropbox link below:
A few seconds of your time could make the difference in growing our community. We need your support to spread the word!
Capsule360 has a compact and unique design that allows you to create Pan, Tilt and Slide moves easily. On top of that, all 2 axis movements such as Pan-Tilt, Pan-Slide, Tilt-Slide and even 3-axis motion by combining all together is also possible. You can coordinate up to three Capsule360 units right from your smartphone to create multiple axis movements. When several Capsule360 units are working together to create these motions, they do not need any cable connection at all. No more cable clutter! All units communicate with each other without a cable.
You can use Capsule360 to take time-lapse photos as well. It offers both standard and advanced time-lapse modes. The advanced modes are Bulb Ramping, Interval Ramping, Long Exposure and HDR (High Dynamic Range) time-lapse modes.
These modes do not require the existence of the smartphone during the shooting. Once you have the parameters set and start the shooting, you can just use your smartphone for other purposes. Capsule360 benefits from your smartphone in every possible way, but it is also capable of doing many things by itself.
Capsule360 benefits from the capabilities of your smartphone to the fullest. It can track an object with a single touch on your phone. Just start the app and mark the object you want to track on the screen. That’s it! Capsule360 will take care of the rest. It will rotate the smartphone to the perfect angle to keep the marked object in the view.
Capsule360 can also recognize your face and follow you the same way. You don’t have to stay within a limited area while you are recording. Vloggers will just love this feature.
Imagine you need to take the 360° photos of an item. It is just a hassle to rotate the item precisely to take all those pictures. You need to keep the same angle between each picture to get a smooth transition effect also you should not move the object at all. Capsule360 turns the whole process into a few touches on your smartphone. Just tell Capsule360 how many pictures you want to take. Capsule360 will rotate the turntable accordingly and it will also trigger the camera to capture smooth and quick 360° photos.
You can control up to three Capsule360 units with the smartphone app. To make things easier, we have added the auto-mode detection feature. If you are using a Capsule360 for the PAN mode, the app will detect this automatically and it will show the PAN settings for your use.
If you are using multiple Capsule360 units to combine PAN, TILT or SLIDE moves, each unit will be detected to be used in that particular mode. You don’t need to do anything to control your setup from the smartphone app.
Astrophotography can be very challenging when you try to take long exposure pictures of stars and planets that are millions of miles away. Even they appear to be standing still in fact, they are not. They are in an endless motion and they change their position all the time. This means you need to move your camera during the shooting to capture a sharp picture. Imagine trying to move a camera manually to track a star. Capsule360 can do that with great precision using the intelligence of the perfectly designed app. Your next nightscape and star photos will be just out of this universe!
Capsule360 can also be used as a motorized slider together with the Capsule Slider. You can use the Capsule slider as a manual slider as well. It will turn it into a motorized slider with a Capsule360 unit. Capsule360 will slide automatically with a great precision per your settings. You can fully control it over the smartphone.
Good news is that you can use not just one but two of Capsule360’s with Capsule Slider. You can mount another Capsule360 on top of the first one and this will give the PAN capability. As the Capsule 360 on the bottom moves along the slider, the one on the top will do the PAN movement.
Capsule Dolly is designed to provide you with freedom of linear and curved slide movements on flat surfaces. Attach your Capsule360 to Capsule Dolly and make it motorized to get smooth motion which will give a professional touch to your videos.
Create your motion and time-lapse setup easily and quickly! Capsule360 can learn motion paths with your manual movement, just demonstrate them, and they can be repeated as many times as desired. You can configure this motion and all its settings from the mobile application via Bluetooth.
Our user-friendly and cleverly designed mobile application lets you make all setup and configurations easily. You will not be bored with complex user interfaces and your motion setup will only take 10 seconds.

Finally, we meet all expectations by incorporating the latest and greatest tech innovations into the BladeMaster PRO. Thus, we are confident that BladeMaster could be the best gaming keyboard you’ve ever seen.
—
Top Tier Components
All BladeMaster keyboards are manufactured in world-class factories , which produce high-end models for famous brands such as SteelSeries and CoolerMaster. We promise you that everything used for BladeMaster is selected from the best!
A Programmable Touch-Typing Knob for Gaming, Programming, Office Work and Anything You Want from a Keyboard !!
Genius-Knob is an innovative idea that solves real problem! People are used to controlling the keyboard with left hands and control the mouse with right hands, but the keyboard is not easy to fully control by a single hand.
Some of the right-hand keys and complicated functions such as macro and batch script processing can be assigned to the knob now to avoid losing control of the mouse by using right hands.
How? When you are rotating the knob forward/backward or making single-click/double-click, you are actually acting four different input commands. In this way, one knob is equal to four custom functions. When putting it into practice, you will be amazed how great it is!
—
Everything is under control with the Genius-Knob
There are two ways you can use knob in any game:
1. The 4 default commands of the Genius-knob are PageUp, PageDown, Home, and End. By entering “Key Settings”, you can assign any operation to the knob. Taking the example of PUBG, you can get superior functions by assigning this way: Energy Drink – PageUp, Bandage – PageDown, First Aid Kit – Home, and Painkiller – End.
2. By using our software(DREVO POWER CONSOLE), you can relate this knob to any key or operation commonly used in a game by default. E.g. Forward – M, Backward – K, Single-click – 6, Double-click – =.
With the knob, in most cases, you do not need to look at the keyboard to activate game skills, so that you can be always a step ahead at the tense gaming session.
By means of Macro and Batch script, you can assign four of your most repeated and complicated operations to the knob, then a simple touch will solve the problem.
—
Easier multi-media control
Adjusting your audio, lighting modes, and activating other frequent functions are a breeze.
—
You decide what it is!
DREVO POWER CONSOLE, a customizable software, already has several built-in settings on the knob. We are still constantly trying to improve and glad to hear suggestions and improvements from you.
Please feel free to share with us what other functions you want to see with our smart knob. You can leave comments on this project. We will collect the ideas of supporters and make a video to show the functions they want to see .
The advanced Radi Lighting System is another main feature that we are proud of. The 360° lateral middle embedded light bands are elegantly synchronized with the backlit keys. Additionally, they are combined with true 16.8 million colors, 9 lighting modes, per-key customizable as well as two-lighting overlay compatibility, creating the best RGB lighting experience you can have from a keyboard.
One of the core design principles behind the BladeMaster is “more possible and more convenient”. It is not logical to think that everyone will be gaming on the BladeMaster all the time. When used in office work and professional programming work, BladeMaster is definitely a powerful choice as well!
Fully compatible with Mac & Windows
All the special functions (e.g. multimedia control, brightness control, mission control, lanchpad…) are supported on Mac & Windows.
Except the special functions, BladeMaster support all major OSes (Windows/macOS/iOS/Android/Linux/Unix).

The RX100 VI features an impressive 24-200mm1 F2.8 – F4.5 high magnification ZEISS® Vario-Sonnar T* zoom lens, yet sacrifices none of the pocket-size portability, speed capabilities and high image quality that has become the hallmark of Sony’s RX100 lineup.
The 1” (1.0-type) 20.1MP Exmor RS™ stacked CMOS image sensor with DRAM chip and an upgraded BIONZ X™ image processing system with a front-end LSI maximizes processing speed and optimizes image quality in all shooting environments, while the incredibly efficient Fast Hybrid AF system with 315 focal-plane phase-detection AF points can acquire focus in as little as 0.03 seconds and shoot at up to 24 fps at full resolution with continuous AF/AE tracking and produces beautiful 4Kvii video with full pixel readout and no pixel binning.
ALC: Sony Announces the RX100 VI: A Powerhouse Camera in a Tiny Package
Today, Sony has announced its brand new member of the RX series: the RX100 VI compact camera that’s sure to be new addition to your travel photography kit thanks to its impressive 8.3x optical zoom.
The camera’s most prominent feature is its stabilized 24-200mm, f/2.8-f/4.5 8.3X large aperture high magnification zoom lens that comes with a speedy 1.0-type 20.1MP Exmor RS CMOS sensor and a DRAM chip.
“We’re continuing to innovate with our RX camera lineup …
The RX100 VI features a new high magnification 24-200mm* F2.8 – F4.5 ZEISS® Vario-Sonnar T lens that packs the power of both 24-70mm and 70-200mm1 lens into a singular compact design. This is achieved thanks to its unique design featuring two ED (extra-low dispersion) aspherical glass elements and eight aspherical lens elements including four AA (advanced aspherical) lenses that work together seamlessly to deliver outstanding sharpness and image quality, from corner-to-corner at all focal lengths. The wide aperture throughout the zoom range delivers beautiful background defocus while the Optical SteadyShotTM image stabilization significantly reduces blurring.
*35mm format equivalent.
World’s fastest* hybrid AF system
The RX100 VI brings a new level of AF performance and speed to compact cameras. It’s equipped with the world’s fastest2 hybrid autofocus system that combines the respective advantages of focal-plane phase detection AF and contrast detection AF – ultimately enabling the camera to lock focus in as fast as 0.03 seconds**.
*Among fixed lens digital cameras with 1” (1.0-type) sensor. As of June 2018 press release, based on Sony research.
**CIPA standard, internal measurement, at f=9.0mm (wide-end), EV6.9, Program Auto, Focus mode: AF-A, Focus area: Center.
Wide coverage 315 phase detection AF points
High speed focusing is a perfect complement to the dedicated 315 phase-detection AF points that covers approx. 65% of the image area of the sensor. With such wide-area high-density autofocus coverage, you can accurately focus on and capture your intended subject at high speed, even if it’s moving rapidly in unpredictable directions.
High-density Tracking AF Technology
The RX100 VI employs Sony’s high-density tracking AF technology to ensure accurate, stable tracking performance throughout the 24-200mm1 range of the lens. This advanced technology leverages the benefits of focal-plane phase-detection sensors to concentrate AF points in a dense pattern around the subject location as its moving to keep subjects in continuous clear focus – even at high speeds.
High-speed continuous shooting at 24fps* with AF/AE tracking
Designed to allow for high resolution, continuous shooting at high frame rates the RX100 VI features a 1″ Exmor RS® stacked back illuminated CMOS sensor w/ DRAM and front-end LSI that works with the BIONZ X® image processing engine to enable continuous shooting speed at impressive 24fps* with AF/AE tracking at full 20.12MP resolution. Thanks to a large buffer, the RX100 VI can capture up to 233 images** at this high speed which can be viewed immediately after shooting. Viewfinder blackout between shots has been minimized in this high-speed shooting mode, which greatly improves the ability to follow fast action and capture the decisive moment.
1” (1.0-type) 20.1MP Exmor RS® stacked back illuminated CMOS sensor w/ DRAM
This large 1” (1.0-type) stacked back illuminated Exmor RS® image sensor with DRAM chip not only enhances efficiency and speed of A/D conversion through its stacked structure and more circuit sections; it also realizes super-fast readout speed. Together with the new BIONZ X™ image processing engine, it allows for stunning 20.1-megapixels at up to 24fps3 continuous shooting, blazingly fast shutter speed of up to 1/32000 sec., breathtaking 4k movie and super slow-motion HFR (High Frame Rate) movie clip recording of up to 960fps (40x), not to mention remarkable low-light capability with a wide sensitivity range (ISO 80-12,800)6 with reduced noise.
Clip-4K movie* w/ direct pixel readout, no pixel binning
The pocket-size RX100 VI features Clip 4K for short – up to 5 minute – 4K (QFHD:3840×2160) movie recording directly to SD memory card7 – ideal for everyday casual use. High quality 4k is achieved by the 1” Exmor RS® CMOS sensor with full pixel readout and no pixel binning – resulting in images that exhibit higher resolution and less moire and jaggies than typical 4K movies. Moreover, the XAVC S™ format is incorporated to maximize high-bitrate shooting up to 100 Mbps for professional quality video. The focal plane phase detection AF system allows for fast hybrid AF during video and ensures accurate focusing and tracking performance, even for the severe focusing requirements of 4K movie shooting. AF drive speed and AF tracking sensitivity can also be adjusted via the menu system providing flexibility for focusing preferences.
*4K continuous recording is available for approx. 5 minutes. The duration available for the shooting may change according to shooting conditions. SDHC/SDXC memory card of Class 10 or higher is required for movie recording in XAVC S format. UHS-I (U3) SDHC/SDXC card is required for 100Mbps recording.
Enhanced pro-video functions and NTSC/ PAL switchable
The RX100 VI includes professional movie functions such as; Picture Profile, S S-Log3/S-Gamut3, TC/UB (time code / user bit), Rec Control, Dual Video Recording, marker display function, etc. that have typically been available only in professional video cameras. You also have the choice of region setting between NTSC and PAL movie frame rates.
4K HDR10 using HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma)
The RX100 VI features 4K HDR10 thanks to its new HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) picture profile which supports an instant HDR workflow. Movies recorded in HDR (HLG) played back on a compatible TV will appear true-to-life, with fewer blocked shadows or blown highlights, without the need for color grading. The BT.2020 color space is supported, providing a wider color gamut. Four gamma settings are provided (HLG, HLG1, HLG2, HLG3). The HLG setting conforms to ITU-R BT.2100. The HLG1, HLG2, and HLG3 gamma settings provide wider dynamic range while retaining the overall appearance of current cameras. The balance of dynamic range and noise produced by each setting is different, allowing selection to best match the scene being recorded.
Wi-Fi®/NFC™/QR code for easy file transfer and remote control
Easily connect with NFC or QR code (for non-NFC devices) to smartphones or tablets with the built-in Wi-Fi® and Sony’s PlayMemories Mobile™ application available for Android™ and iOS platforms. Control your camera or transfer files to your device for fast and easy sharing without the need of a computer. When you’re done, you can use the free software to sort and manage your stills and video with PlayMemories Home™ or view and edit your RAW file with either Sony’s Imaging Edge software or Capture One Express (for Sony).
Comfortable control ring for manual operation
A unique control ring around the lens works in combination with an intuitive, display interface for meticulous SLR-type control over settings that satisfies even the most fastidious users. The control ring can be assigned to adjust various features (at various values) from basics like zooming and aperture to creative functions like Picture Effect. Moreover, it turns smoothly and seamlessly, allowing quiet, click-free usage while shooting movies including a new step-zoom function that enables instant selection of commonly used focal lengths.
The RX100 VI features an impressive 24-200mm1 F2.8 – F4.5 high magnification ZEISS® Vario-Sonnar T* zoom lens, yet sacrifices none of the pocket-size portability, speed capabilities and high image quality that has become the hallmark of Sony’s RX100 lineup.
The 1″ (1.0-type) 20.1MP Exmor RS stacked CMOS image sensor with DRAM chip and an upgraded BIONZ X image processing system with a front-end LSI maximizes processing speed and optimizes image quality in all shooting environments, while the incredibly efficient Fast Hybrid AF system with 315 focal-plane phase-detection AF points can acquire focus in as little as 0.03 seconds and shoot at up to 24 fps at full resolution with continuous AF/AE tracking and produces beautiful 4Kvii video with full pixel readout and no pixel binning.

Using your iPhone as the monitor eyemore provides you with a familiar interface to record, edit and share your videos. It also saves your videos directly to your iPhone so there’s no need to bring SD cards or transfer files to your computer. This means you can share your videos directly as they’re filmed to Youtube, Instagram or any other platform you want.
With the universal ¼” diameter screw socket you can attach any tripod, monopod, or camera accessory to your eyemore to make it more versatile.
The built-in intelligent algorithm eyemore uses provides immediate smart correct functions, 1920x1080P/30fps resolution, automatic color grading, up to 14 stops of dynamic range and an ISO of up to 400,000. In January, despite some confusion, Bandai Namco assured us existing owners of the original Dark Souls would not receive money off its incoming Remastered edition. Now, the publisher has confirmed that they will.
Billed as a “loyalty discount”, owners of Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition can pick up Dark Souls: Remastered at half-price when it hits Steam on May 25, 2018.
Moreover, the Prepare to Die Edition—which costs £20/$20 at present and comes with the base game’s DLC—will be removed from Valve’s digital storefront entirely as of May 9. It will however remain playable for existing owners.
I hardly need an excuse to return to Lordran, but with the Switch variation delayed till later this year, 50 percent off the remake on PC appeals to me. I hear the console version looks good, but will, or even can, the remaster outdo the standard set by PC mods? That remains to be seen. Let us know your thoughts on the Remastered discount in the comments below.

BattleTech PC review
BattleTech, as you might expect, is a game about massive mechs stomping around a battlefield, throwing ordnance at one another. But, less obviously, it’s also a game about a small business owner plugging away in an uncaring galaxy, staying one step ahead of payroll, and doing anything they can to keep their spaceship flying.
The BattleTech board game has been around for decades but this is the first videogame that can be considered a true adaptation. Previous games, like MechCommander, have approximated parts of the ruleset, while others, such as MechWarrior and MechAssault, have been spin-offs set in the same universe.
What Harebrained Schemes have achieved, however, is to capture the nuances and unique flavour of the original BattleTech. It brings in weight-class initiative-dictated movement phases, stability stats, and Called Shots. It’s very exciting for people who, like me, enjoy stats, but those that don’t can get away with just knowing the game is richer for it.
On the battlefield, you command a lance of up to four pilots, each in the cockpit of a giant war machine called a BattleMech. These towering walking tanks are composed of a vulnerable inner structure that bristles with weapon systems wrapped in a thick layer of armour. When you meet the enemy’s units and begin launching shells, missiles, and laser beams at each other that armour peels away, exposing the core – and eventually the pilot – to attack. Arms will be blasted off, ammo cages will explode, and mechs will overheat. It makes for an excellent turn-based tactical game.
Informing that core are a number of simple systems that combine to create a complex web of tactical considerations. Take heat-management, which makes you carefully choose which weapons to fire each turn – the fear being that you’ll overheat one of your mechs, which forces it to shutdown and cool off, leaving it vulnerable to attack. Stability is another that can dismantle your front if left unattended: if a mech is pummeled with enough ballistic fire it will teeter and potentially topple to the ground, injuring the pilot inside and leaving them exposed to targeted assaults until they can stand back up. Then there’s line of sight and sensors, which make scouting with a spotter mech an essential strategy, allowing you to rain fire upon your enemy without them even seeing you.
Success isn’t only down to what you take to the battlefield.s The battlefield itself, and how you utilise it, plays a huge part. There are advantages to be gained from firing down on an enemy from a high position, cover bonuses to hiding your mechs in thick forest, heat dissipation bonuses to standing a mech in deep water. You have to read the map to make the best use of your lance.
All of this articulated-metal-foot-on-the-ground action is tied together by a persistent management layer that makes BattleTech radically different from its extended family of games. You are the manager of a mercenary outfit, the pilots are your employees, and the mechs are your assets. You have to pay for them every month – either in salary or maintenance costs – or face desertion You gain the necessary capital by taking on contracts from clients throughout the galaxy: protect a convoy here, destroy a lance of mechs there. Each job nets you cash and salvage that lets you keep flying and expand your operations.
As you progress through BattleTech’s story – which follows a deposed queen fighting to take back her small Fiefdom in a wider galactic war – you gain access to a sprawling ship that can be upgraded with morale-boosting facilities for your pilots, a larger mechbay so you can store more mechs, and more med bays to care for the inevitable wounded. This management layer isn’t a tacked on extra, it’s what drives you to your most exciting battles, and your worst decisions.
Any damage done to your mechs or pilots takes time to heal. It’s common, particularly BattleTech’s early game, to finish a job with most of your pilots in the medbay and your mechs in the shop for repairs. They can be there for weeks – I had one pilot out of action for nearly three months after their mech got cored by a PPC on a particularly gruelling job. But, when I didn’t have enough money in the bank to meet payroll, I’d have to take on jobs anyway.
This is where BattleTech shines, it’s not about completing missions on your best day, it’s about playing as best you can on your worst. I took light mechs to fight heavy mechs, half lances to fight full lances, I put rookie pilots into my most expensive machines. Anything to keep my ship flying.
When you field an ill-fitting lance, the only way to get ahead is to twist the rules of BattleTech to your advantage. With the light mechs, I kept them mobile and close to the enemy mechs equipped with powerful long-range weapons. If I moved every turn, positioned my mechs in terrain that provided cover bonuses, and stood in my quarry’s blindspot, I could eke ahead. It was also vital that I kept shooting the same side of the enemy, repeatedly scraping away at the same outer armour, exposing the innards faster than if I took a more general approach.
I still lost a lot of pilots. I mean, I was playing tactically, but it was akin to a plastic fork attacking a machine gun emplacement. What’s important is that I stayed ahead of bankruptcy. I hope the families of my dead digital desperados can take some solace in that.
The material cost of pushing for a win has started making me play in a way I’ve never played in other games – quitting while I’m ahead. There are two tools at your disposal on the battlefield that allow for this: ejections and withdrawals. You can tell a mech pilot to hit the eject button on their turn. The head of their machine will pop off and they’ll launch to safety. At the end of the battle you salvage their mech and collect the pilot. Besides replacing the head, there is no penalty to this action – except having one less mech on the field. Withdrawals are separated into good-faith and bad-faith withdrawals. If you complete your objective or destroy at least one enemy mech then you can extract from a mission with your reputation intact, even get a bit of cash off the client. If you leave before that then it’s classed as a bad-faith withdrawal and your rep takes a hit.
Using these tools in tandem makes a win on the battlefield more flexible. My lance of cobbled-together mechs, and pilots selected based on their ability to leave the med bay, aren’t always going to be able to destroy every mech they face, no matter how tactically I play. But I can focus, instead, on just taking down one or two enemy mechs, pushing to complete an objective and calling in the dropship when enemy reinforcements arrive. I get paid, my reputation remains intact, and my mechs and pilots live to fight another day.
The persistence between contracts justifies the decision to quit the battlefield. It can feel really good, like you’ve snatched victory away from your enemies. When one of your mechs is surrounded and about to be lit up by a barrage of autocannon fire, it’s deeply satisfying to hit the eject button and watch the pilot launch themselves to safety.
In all the other BattleTech videogames you’re taking factory-fresh mechs into battle, so the stories you play a part in are only those written by the developers. In BattleTech, the persistence between battles lets you weave a whole new plot through the game, one filled with characters and stakes that are wholly your own. There’s the pilot who, no matter what mech you put them in, always ends up in the hospital after a mission, the plucky Locust that, even when you’re fighting towering Assault class mechs, manages to dodge their waves of fire, and the stumpy-legged Hunchback who is always running behind the pack, trying to keep up with its friends.
The emergent story is only possible because Harebrained Schemes have done such a good job of tying together all of BattleTech’s systems – on and off the battlefield – and then applying pressure to them all simultaneously with the weight of your monthly outgoings. It’s a delightful struggle to play against, as every month you squeeze together enough credits to make payroll feels just as good as slamming the eject button on a mech surrounded by enemies – a desperate victory against all odds.

Just under a year ago we struck out into unknown territory and announced Strange Brigade – our new 1930’s action adventure for one to four players. Since then we’ve taken the game on the road, but since PSX (what a fantastic show for the PlayStation community) we’ve been silent as, well, a tomb! But fret no longer, adventurers, for it’s time to blow open this dusty sarcophagus and finally unveil the rip-roaring story that drives Strange Brigade’s campaign, as well as some important new gameplay details.
The call to adventure awaits …
A Story 4,000 Years in the Making
At the heart of Strange Brigade’s campaign lies Seteki, the Witch Queen. Ruling over Saharan Africa nearly 4,000 years ago, her dynasty was so barbaric that she was eventually overthrown, her dark temples overturned, and her history wiped from the hieroglyphs.
Our tale of derring-do begins in 1930’s Egypt where a reckless amateur archaeologist Edgar Harbin attempted to write himself into archaeological notoriety by finding the fabled tomb of Seteki, and in doing so unleashed the fallen Queen’s spirit from a millenia-long imprisonment. Fortunately for the rest of the world, Harbin’s expedition had been infiltrated by an agent from a shadowy British organisation who has since gone missing…
Stranger Things
The Strange Brigade is the nickname given by British Government officials to a mysterious arm of the Secret Service. Formed in 1858 out of the ashes of the East India Company, the Strange Brigade was tasked with helping the world rather than exploiting it. As 19th Century technology and exploration advanced ever further, mankind began to uncover dark and ancient powers that had been long buried… and with good reason!
Recruited from around the world for their unusual talents by a certain Lady Imelda Webster, the Strange Brigade travels the world defeating metaphysical menaces wherever they appear.
All That Glitters is Probably Gold… and More!
About 90 seconds into our latest trailer you can glimpse a new glowing device now owned by each player. These “amulets” are the key to the Strange Brigade’s magical prowess and add a lovely new gameplay mechanic to boot. In early incarnations of the game players automatically powered up by defeating enemies, but now they have to use their amulets to deliberately “absorb” souls from enemies and charge up explosive magical attacks, leaving you thrillingly vulnerable as you do so. It feels great to use and gives the game’s combat a really unique rhythm!
Treasure obviously plays its part in the trailer, too. I mean the Mummies aren’t going to use it are they? Players are rewarded with gold for defeating enemies and exploring off the beaten track. This can be used to unlock new weapons and items between levels which can be dropped into loadouts at various workbenches throughout each level.
You’ll want to keep some pennies in your back pockets however, as gold can also be spent on limited-time “prototype” weapons such as the the fire-spitting Krakatoa, the ice cold Chill Burster, and the brain-busting Blunderbuss! And don’t worry, there will be no micro-transactions – this is all for progression and fun.
We hope you’ll join us on our adventure when Strange Brigade launches on August 28 – but look out for more dispatches in the meantime!

According to Eurogamer.net
Nintendo Switch has been hacked, with two similar exploits released in the last 24 hours following a complete dump of the console’s boot ROM. The hacks are hardware-based in nature and cannot be patched by Nintendo. The only way forward for the platform holder in fully securing the console will be to revise the Nvidia Tegra X1 processor itself, patching out the boot ROM bug. In the short term, homebrew code execution is possible and a full, touch-enabled version of Linux with 3D acceleration support is now available.
The exploits have been delivered by veteran console hackers fail0verflow with its ShofEL2 release, and the Fusée Gelée hack from Kate Temik, which is fully documented here. According to the hackers, the nature of the exploit was fully disclosed to Google, Nintendo and Nvidia some time ago. fail0verflow was set to release its exploit on 25th April, but brought it forward once the boot ROM dump leaked.
“Choosing whether to release an exploit or not is a difficult choice,” fail0verflow wrote in a blog post accompanying the release of its exploit. “Given our experiences with past consoles, we’ve been wary of releasing vulnerability details or exploits for fear of them being used primarily for piracy rather than homebrew.
“That said, the Tegra bootrom bug is so obvious that multiple people have independently discovered it by now; at best, a release by other homebrew teams is inevitable, while at worst, a certain piracy modchip team might make the first move. 90 days ago, we begun the responsible disclosure process with Google, as Tegra chips are often used in Android devices. The disclosure deadline has now lapsed. The bug will be made public sooner or later, likely sooner, so we might as well release now along with our Linux boot chain and kernel tree, to make it very clear that we do this for fun and homebrew, and nothing else.”
Here’s the team’s video showing Switch running Linux, seemingly with full hardware integration of touch support. In addition to that, we’ve also seen a screenshot of Doom 3 running on the Nintendo portable, presumably running via Linux.
It’ll take some time for a homebrew toolchain to appear that produces code that can run natively on Horizon – the name of the Switch OS – and right now, unless you’re really keen on Switch Linux, there’s not much utility for the exploit until the arrival of custom firmwares later on down the road. But as fail0verflow mentions in its blog, the hack will likely be used for running pirate software at some point. Unfettered access to game software also allows for modifications to take place, potentially compromising the integrity of Switch’s online gaming environment. So on the one hand, this exploit delivers Linux and potentially opens up Switch as one hell of an emulation portable – but on the other, Nintendo faces a security nightmare in preventing piracy and keeping modders and cheats out of its online gaming environment.
So what happens next? Well, Nintendo and Nvidia are fully aware of the exploits available and while they cannot stop current Switch consoles from being compromised, they can attempt to shore up the OS at a software level. They can’t stop the OS from being altered, but they can make it harder to reverse engineer the elements that make running unsigned code possible. Similarly, new OS-level code can be implemented in an attempt to detect hacked consoles and to remove them from online play. Unfortunately though, the reality is that any software-level fix from Nintendo can be undone if hackers put in the time and effort to roll back changes Nintendo introduces to the OS.
In the longer term, Nintendo can only lock out the hack completely by changing the Tegra X1 processor itself, patching out the bug that makes these exploits possible – and funnily enough, a new Tegra processor with a T214 designation (the standard model is codenamed T210) is referenced in the Switch 5.0.0 firmware – along with the possibility of a RAM bump to 8GB from the existing 4GB. But in the shorter term, Nintendo has its work cut out doing all it can at the OS level, in the knowledge that any measures it introduces on the console itself can almost certainly be circumvented with via the low-level access granted by the exploit.
Ultimately, as exploits go, this is something of a security nightmare for Nintendo. Options are limited in how it can respond and it almost certainly begins a game of cat and mouse between hackers and the platform holder: firmware updates issued with new security patches, followed by custom firmware alternatives that once again allow unsigned code to run. Despite the advance warning given to Nintendo, the current Switch firmware remains vulnerable – with the limited routes forward available to Nintendo, it’ll be fascinating to see how it responds.

Watch out, Fortnite! A new battle royale game is coming out on PlayStation 4 – and it’s free-to-play.
H1Z1, which developer Daybreak Games calls “the original standalone battle royale game”, launches on PS4 in open beta form on 22nd May as a free-to-play title.
Producer Terrence Yee said Daybreak has reimagined the game, which is already out on PC, to “accentuate the essentials of battle royale that make the genre so exciting to watch and play”. There are new weapons, a new weapon progression system and a revamped user interface.
There’s a grab-and-go equipment system, which simplifies loot collection and inventory management, a radial weapon menu and a revamped HUD. The crafting system has been ditched.
To make H1Z1 feel faster paced, Daybreak has sped up the play of the match and revamped the airdrop system to keep players moving and invested in fights.
H1Z1’s claim to being the original standalone battle royale game stems from the February 2016 split of the original H1Z1 into the release of two separate projects: H1Z1: Just Survive and H1Z1: King of the Kill. In October 2017, Just Survive dropped the H1Z1 name, and King of the Kill became simply H1Z1. After three years of being in early access, H1Z1 officially released on 28th February 2018. Shortly after, the game went free-to-play.

Fortnite got a big patch last night, but one of the changes to the game isn’t listed anywhere. To see it, you’ll have to head down to Tilted Towers, where Epic has added some new items on a roof that seem to poke fun at players waiting for the comet event to unfold.
As many of you know, for the last month, there’s been a lot of commotion surrounding comets and meteors in Fortnite. While none of the celestial items have caused impact with the Fortnite map yet, one of the leading theories is that the meteors will hit Tilted Towers, and possibly level that area of the map—or at least change it somehow. Players swear that all evidence points toward this theory: something is going to happen at Tilted Towers, potentially by the end of the current Fortnite season.
Today, anyone dropping into Tilted Towers will see the scene at the top of this post. Epic have arranged items to look like conspiracy theorists are camping up there. There’s a telescope that is pointed right at the comet:
If you look closer, you’ll notice a variety of different signs, some of which are space-themed, while others make it seem like the people waiting want to get hit by something:
Right now, pretty much the entire community might as well be holding up this today sign.
Is it likely that something actually will happen tomorrow though? Maybe, but probably not. For one, the season doesn’t end until April 30th, and that seems like better timing for the conclusion of the entire alien/space-themed event as a whole. The next Fortnite patch seems to be scheduled two days from now, when the new Battle Pass challenges drop. Also, according to dataminers TwoEpicBuddies—who have successfully predicted updates in the past—the comets won’t necessarily be Tilted-Towers specific:
Ok found some sound files regarding the meteor (btw. they sound amazing O.O). Seems like they hit the map/cars (thus the playlist name carmine). You can open them like supply drops to gather some loot! pic.twitter.com/6CK1uusWBc
We reached out to Epic to ask about the nature of these signs, but did not hear back in time for publication. But, if nothing else, the general tone of the signs feels lighthearted, as if Epic is winking to Fortnite fans. At this point, with all the hype everyone has built up, they kinda had to do something with Tilted Towers. This might be it.

Wintry Early Access battle royale game Darwin Project went free to play yesterday in an effort to boost player numbers and cut down the time it takes to queue for a round.
“Lately, members of our community have reported longer queue times and difficulty finding matches in lesser populated servers,” said creative director Simon Darveau. “To bring in new players and maintain a level of activity that ensures players are able to get the most of out Darwin Project, we’ve decided to make it more accessible by removing the price tag.”
Anyone that already stumped up cash for the game—which was $15/£11.39—will have in-game cosmetics added to their inventory on Tuesday as compensation. They’ll get two legendary sets, three legendary axes, three legendary bows, a full jumpsuit collection and five fan gifts.
Davreau assured players that going free to play doesn’t mean Darwin Project, which launched in Early Access last month, will ever be pay to win. “We will never sell items that give a competitive advantage.”
The game tries to set itself apart by allowing you to track other players, revealing their locations by following footstep trails or finding maps in log cabins scattered throughout its Canadian wilderness map. Each round also has a “show director” that can talk to all 10 participants and mess with them by dropping nuclear bombs or closing off areas of the map. It has spectator tools built into Twitch and Mixer, and viewers can vote on what the show director should do next.
If you’ve wanted to play but the price tag has put you off, then now is the perfect time to jump in. Download it on Steam.

According to GameSpot
God of War is a phenomenal game that everyone should play, no question. And if you’re in this article, it’s probably safe to say that you’re interested in playing it, if you haven’t already started. But if you want to really get the most out of its stunning world and its fantastic and definitely not boring combat, then you should really consider playing in Immersive mode.
You’ll find an option in the game’s setting menu that lets you toggle the game’s HUD between Normal and Immersive mode, which removes most of the game’s pop-ups, meters, compass, and icons. God of War’s HUD is already quite minimal, which is great, but after finishing and playing the latter half of the game in Immersive mode, let me tell you: this is the way to experience God of War.
The idea of no HUD is always a little daunting, for sure. But don’t be scared! I wrote this article to assure you that it’s totally viable, explain how you can parse information you need, and tell you why the things you’re missing out on aren’t a big deal.
First of all, why do it, and what are the benefits of not getting every single little detail of information? On a superficial level, God of War is a very, very good looking game. Immersive mode makes sure the entirety of your screen can be used to appreciate the beauty of the environments, character models, and get the full impact of the game’s truly impressive camera work with that one, long, 40-hour steadycam shot.
On a more substantial level, being able to pay full attention to the environment without any distractions will help you with your exploration. You’ll pay more attention to the details in the environment and you’ll almost be guaranteed to never miss a collectible. You’ll more easily notice the shine of purposely obscured items, and distinctly hear the tinkling of Odin’s ravens. No alternate paths will go unnoticed, and no stray pot or wooden item will go un-smashed, because you’re looking so keenly at the world, instead of the icon on a compass.
But most importantly, the Immersive mode will make you better at combat. In action games, it’s a common, and completely logical, tendency to always keep one eye on either your health meter, your enemy’s health meter, enemy location indicators, your skill cooldowns, whatever. But that’s one eye that’s not actually watching the fight.
Immersive mode lets you focus completely on using all of your skill to be the best fighter you can be. Hit every parry, dodge every attack, take advantage of every opening. If you’re like me, and you know you have a full bar of health, you’ll sometimes get a little sloppier because you know Kratos can take a few hits. But why not perform at your absolute best all the damn time? You need to set a good example for Atreus, after all. Is that enemy you’re taking on a purple enemy who’s supposed to be overpowered for you? Who knows, who cares? If you can beat it, then what does it matter? Free yourself from self-doubt!
Now, I do recommend that on your first playthrough you should definitely spend the early hours with the default HUD just so you can get a basic feel of how combat operates, especially how the stun mechanic works. But by the time you get to the Lake of Nine and the game opens up, you should be good to go Immersive.
However, if you’re STILL a little scared to go on a grand adventure without all of this info, there’s one thing I’ve been keeping from you: God of War also has a Custom HUD option which lets you toggle certain elements of the HUD on or off. But best of all, it allows you to assign some HUD options to the PS4’s touchpad, meaning you can turn everything off, but take a brief look anything you want to with a gentle tap of the touchpad. So if you’re finding Immersive mode hard to get used to at the beginning, give the touchpad stuff a try. Bet you forgot that function was even there!
Okay, so how do you actually manage all the information you need for combat without seeing bars or indicators? Well, God of War has a bunch of in-world cues that make Immersive mode accessible and tell you literally everything you need to know. They’re all pretty obvious, but let’s run through them for peace of mind.
Watch for enemy attack rings! If an enemy is attacking you, and there’s an expanding golden ring coming from them, it means you can and should parry this attack by blocking at the last minute. If there’s an expanding red ring, it means it’s an unblockable attack, and you should dodge the hell out of there or get Atreus to interrupt it. The game teaches you both of these things.
If you’ve been wailing on an enemy with light attacks or your bare fists, and see the pulsing red circle around them, it means you can execute your takedown move. Not being able to see how much stun you’re dealing to an enemy might seem like a disadvantage, especially against Revenants, who have a rapid stun recovery. But just keep in mind that if you’re looking to stun someone, you need to maintain focus on them and keep the pressure up regardless, otherwise you’ll never get there.
If the screen has a glowing red vignette, it means you’re low on health. That’s a pretty standard thing. But Atreus will also tell you as much just in case it wasn’t obvious enough. If Kratos is blue and icy, it means you’ve been affected by frost, and your attack speed will be slowed. Poison and shock effects are also pretty obvious–you’ll see the distinct colors on Kratos. You don’t need to see a little icon to know you’re poisoned!
You also don’t need the enemy indicator ring to know when you’re being blindsided, just listen carefully to Atreus, because he’ll tell you when you’re being attacked, and from where. When he says “Watch out behind you!”, or “Fire from your right!” it’s a good idea to act on that advice immediately.
You see what I mean? All of that knowledge is pretty straightforward and pre-existing. They’re all things you’ll be accustomed to by the time you internalize the combat system. I’m sure you have a bunch of questions and concerns, such as: How do you know when you need to heal? Well naturally, it’s a good idea to save green gems for until you really need them, and you know that when Atreus is yelling at you and your screen is turning red, you need to find some health gems to stomp on, pronto.
Now, remember when I talked about Immersive mode giving you way more awareness in combat? You’ll likely be avoiding more hits overall, which means you’ll likely have more spare health gems lying around, and as you play more you should organically get an idea of roughly how many blows you can take before hitting the red zone. Health then becomes more of a gut feeling thing. For example, if I enter a fight and am aware I’ve taken three or four hits from some Draugr, I can be pretty sure that grabbing one of those green gems will bring me back up to max health. Once the fight is over, you’ll naturally want to clean up all the pickups on the battlefield, which should put you in perfect shape for the next battle. You can check your health with the touchpad just to be sure.
Things a little clearer for cooldowns on your runic weapon and talisman skills, as well as Atreus’ abilities. When an ability comes off cooldown and is ready to use, there’ll be a handy chime from either the left or right of the screen, where the meters would normally be. Atreus will say “I’m set! Or “Tell me when!” when his arrows are ready after using them all up. That said, it’s good to keep in mind roughly how long the cooldown on your chosen abilities are (anywhere from 30-90 seconds) and keep rough track when you use it. Personally, I found myself having a lot more fun with them in Immersive because I would see myself identifying the perfect situation to use a skill before activating it (rather than noticing that it was available to use, thinking “I should use that”, and then kinda wasting it and missing out on a better opportunity moments later).
The tricky one, depending on your play style, is knowing when Spartan Rage is ready to go. I typically only used Spartan Rage during boss fights or particularly large mobs, so I rarely found myself in a bad situation with it. But if you like to use it as soon as you can, as much as you can, you might want to use the custom Touchpad HUD to periodically check on the meters.
Finally your compass. God of War’s open areas are not so convoluted that you’re going to need to constantly follow an objective marker to get where you need to go. Glancing at your world map in the main menu, making a note of your orientation and where your next main or side objective might be, and set off in that general direction, allowing the natural pathways and your perception of major landmarks to guide you usually enough to get you where you need to be.
Okay, so how about all that sweet loot you’re going to find along your journey? In Immersive mode, most of the white highlights you pick up off the ground, and the stuff you find in chests, coffins, and on the water won’t activate a popup. But seriously, don’t sweat. It’s probably either just some hacksilver, a small XP boost, or crafting materials. None of these are things you need to worry about immediately!
And let’s face it–every time you come upon a weapon stall, you’re going to check in and see if you can craft or upgrade any new gear anyway. If you have the prerequisite hacksilver and crafting materials, great! And if you don’t, well, see you next time! With Immersive mode, you’ll likely be a lot more aware of hidden paths and pickups along the way, so it’s not like you’re going to miss a whole mess of stuff that’s going to stop you from upgrading something, because you wouldn’t have been able to anyway.
Now, if you find significant items like new Runic Attacks, uncommon, legendary, or epic gear, legendary materials, Iounn Apples, or Mead Horns, a big pop-up will come up regardless, because that’s stuff that you might find useful immediately. Lore popups and new bestiary entries are pretty straightforward–You can safely assume that once you stumble upon a lore stone for Atreus to decipher, or encounter an enemy you haven’t seen before, there’ll be a fresh passage of text waiting for you to read in the main menu.
Unfortunately for those of you who are super into lore, Both the loot and lore popups are things that can’t be toggled individually in the custom HUD screen, and can’t be assigned to the touchpad menu. You’re either all in or all out. So this might have to be a personal decision based on how badly you want to read the lore immediately, and seeing a popup saying you picked up 5 hacksilver every time you smash a pot.
So that’s a lot of words and time spent to assure you that, yes, playing God of War in Immersive mode can be a completely practical and good option. Again, it’s something that I implore you to do because it’ll give you a greater appreciation of just how well designed its environments are for exploring, how deep and exciting combat can be, and just how stunning every facet of this game is. I wish I had done it earlier. Turn on Immersive mode in God of War. It’s the best way to play.

50,000 units sold on Microsoft format
This month saw the release of the BAFTA award-winning Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice on Xbox One. After shifting over 50,000 units in first few weeks, developers Ninja Theory are to donate thousands of dollars to the Mental Health America organisation.
The sombre adventure title, which launched last year on PS4 and PC, stars a young warrior woman who embarks on a nightmarish journey to save the soul of her lover, battle otherworldly monstrosities and the crippling anguish within her own mind, a psychosis which she believes to be a curse. The game was lauded for its sensitive treatment of mental illness, attained through the developers working alongside neurosurgeons and those who are affected themselves.
This isn’t the first time Ninja Theory have donated money from Hellblade sales to mental health charities. On World Mental Health Day 2017, the proceeds from all sales of the game within a 24-hour period were given to UK charity Rethink; an organisation I myself have required the aid of many times. Ninja Theory have stated that although they didn’t reach their intended goal of 100,000 units, they will donate a further $50K whenever they hit that milestone.
I said it then, and I’ll repeat myself now; I sincerely hope that any members of our beloved community, who are affected by such issues, be it they themselves, or their loved ones, can find comfort, support and relief through friends, family, colleagues, forums and healthcare professionals. You are not alone in this, nor do you ever have to be, I promise you.
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is available now on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
Although we didn't reach our stretch goal of 100K units to donate $50K, we have decided to still donate the full $50K when we do hit 100K sales! pic.twitter.com/fPts8WukAs

It’s not 100% clear how to get to the final credits in the excellent new PS4 game God of War, and you may think that you’ll have to finish all of the side missions first, but that is in fact not the case. Here’s a spoiler-free explanation.
Once you’ve completed the game’s story, you’ll be put back in the open world and encouraged to go fight, explore, and do all the side stuff you haven’t finished yet. It may seem like something’s missing, and that’s because you’re not quite done yet. To see the final ending, you have to do the following:
1) Go back to Kratos and Atreus’s home (you can use the Mystic Gateway).
2) Go to sleep.
That’s it! Then you’ll see one more scene and the full credits will roll. Once they’re over, you can go back to side quests, optional bosses, and throwing the axe and calling it back over and over again for 40+ hours at a time.

In the past, we’ve seen hotel rooms and even entire hotels specifically designed for those who prefer the orange glow of de_dust2 to a sandy beach. But Alienware’s new gaming suite in Hilton’s Panama City location might well be the easiest place yet to let a week of your life completely pass you by. Room 2425 offers guests the chance to avoid the rich culture of the Central American capital and enjoy the company of a monstrous Alienware gaming PC, Oculus Rift VR headset and Xbox One Elite. Move between the racing seat centerpiece and beanbags, foregoing the stunning view of the South Pacific Ocean to instead bask in the warm glow of the room’s 65-inch 4K TV.
The $349 per night room also features a surround sound system and immersive lighting that responds to in-game action. Oh, and an Alienware gaming laptop if you made the crucial mistake of inviting someone else to join you in the lair. So draw those curtains, order your weight in room service and settle into a session. Though you won’t actually need room service when you’re putting away all those chicken dinners, right? Poggers.
