According to (This article and its images were originally posted on GameSpot September 25, 2018 at 06:09PM.)

This weeks is hunt for powerful gear has Spider sending you to chase down the Gravetide Summoner on Titan. Once you pick up the bounty for five Ghost Fragments, head below deck on The Rig. The recommended light is 540 so if you’re under that we recommend brining a fellow guardian. The Gravetide Summoner can’t be directly damaged for most of the fight, rather she’s immobilized and protected by the Gravetide Ogre. The fight has three damage phases with the Ogre in which waves of thralls and knights intermittently attack you. The Gravetide Summoner will begin to shoot at guardians in the last phase. Kill the ogre first and the rest of the fight is over quickly. We earned the Scatterhorn Robe which is a chest piece for Warlock.

Destiny 2 Players Think They’ve Found Part of the Malfeasance Quest

Your daily selection of the hottest trending gaming news!

According to (This article and its images were originally posted on IGN September 24, 2018 at 03:52PM.)

The the Malfeasance hand cannon has eluded Destiny 2 players since the beginning of Forsaken, but it looks like a portion of the quest that involves it has been discovered by some fans.

Reported by Forbes, this exotic weapon has been a mystery for some time, as players can currently obtain ornaments for it, and it was even advertised before the expansion came out. Well, some players might have found part of the quest that eventually leads to the weapon, though nobody has found the weapon or properly started the quest yet.

The first boss in Destiny 2: Forsaken’s new raid has already been soloed

Your daily selection of the hottest trending gaming news!

According to (This article and its images were originally posted on gamesradar news September 20, 2018 at 04:27PM.)

It took the best Destiny raiders in the world nearly 19 hours to initially clear Last Wish, the new raid in Destiny 2’s Forsaken expansion, when it released last Friday. But now that players have learned the raid’s fights and boosted their power levels, they’re already chasing Last Wish challenge runs using smaller teams. Known challenge raider Slayerage recently killed Kalli, the Corrupted, the first boss in Last Wish, with the smallest team possible—which is to say, just him.

Slayerage posted the above video of his solo Kalli kill earlier today. In a comment on Reddit, he confirmed he was 587 power during the run. His high power level was a huge factor in his ability to damage Kalli and the encounter’s many enemies, which troubled full teams of six on the day of the raid’s release. Naturally, his loadout played a big part too: the beloved Whisper of the Worm exotic sniper rifle made relatively short work of Kalli, and the new Fatebringer-inspired raid hand cannon kept the basic enemies in check.

The new raid in Destiny 2’s Forsaken expansion, Last Wish, launched yesterday at 10 am Pacific. This morning, a fireteam of six finally cleared the raid and slew Riven of a Thousand Voices after nearly 19 hours of skull-crushingly intense grinding. You can watch the moment the Last Wish was finally bested above. Bungie confirmed the accomplishment on Twitter:

Destiny 2: Forsaken Gives Players Their Voice Back In Launch Trailer

Your daily selection of the hottest trending gaming news!

According to (This article and its images were originally posted on GameSpot – All Content August 28, 2018 at 11:33AM.)

The release of Destiny 2‘s biggest DLC expansion yet, Forsaken, is right around the corner, and to get players pumped for the game’s next chapter, Bungie has released a new launch trailer. It features a funeral of sorts for one of Destiny’s most prominent characters, as well as the return of another–Uldren Sov–who serves as the primary antagonist in Forsaken.

Bungie’s new video starts out by capping off what we’ve seen previously, where Cayde-6 fights off countless foes before his Ghost is destroyed. That leads to Sov, whom you might remember as the Queen of the Reef’s brother, killing Cayde. From there, we see Ikora Rey holding a funeral for Cayde and swearing to avenge him, while Zavala is unwilling to risk anyone’s life.

It’s at that point we see what is maybe the most significant bit of the trailer, when a Titan vows to hunt down Sov himself. This would appear to be a character standing in for the Guardian that you play as; if that’s true, that marks the first time you actually speak in Destiny 2. Until this point, your Ghost did all the talking.

From there, we see your character and Petra Venj (a Queen loyalist) strike a deal with a portly Fallen to help track down Sov. He, meanwhile, burns down the throne room of the Reef and rambles about various things.

All in all, it’s an exciting look at the new expansion, if only because your motivation–hunting down Cayde’s killer–is as clear and impactful as can be.

Forsaken’s release date is set for September 4 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. We already know exactly when its accompanying update will launch, although we don’t yet have full patch notes. Ahead of release, you’ll be able to try out the DLC’s big new mode, Gambit, as part of a one-day trial on September 1. For more, check out our Forsaken pre-order guide.

Here’s What’s In Today’s (Relatively) Big ‘Destiny 2’ Update

Your daily selection of the hottest trending gaming news!

According to Forbes – Games

Destiny 2

Today, Destiny 2 continues its slow march toward regaining the interest of players with a relatively big update focused on a few aspects of the game in particular.

If you’re someone who really likes raiding in Destiny well, I have some good news, this update is almost entirely for you. But otherwise, I’m not sure if this will be enough to lure the majority of the playerbase back. We’ll have to see. It’s a process, after all.

So, what’s going on?

Destiny 2

Masterwork Armor

If you like Masterwork weapons, you may be into their new, less-attractive brother, Masterwork armor.

  • The main perk of Masterwork armor is that each piece gives you 3% damage reduction during your super, for a total of 15% reduction for a full set
  • For a single Masterwork core, you can re-roll the stat package on your armor (Recovery, Mobility, Resilience) for something else

And that’s it. Right now, Masterwork armor is admittedly pretty dull, as the super damage reduction only seems like it will really matter in PvP, and even then, probably won’t be a huge deal. However, I still think it’s probably a good idea to start building out a Masterwork set, because Bungie says they’re going to keep working on it and it’s entirely possible your boring Masterworks might turn into something worthwhile down the road once more bonuses are added.

Destiny 2

Raids Rewards

There’s a lotttt going on here.

  • Raid armor now drops with perks that help during the raid itself, a new mod system allows you to swap in and out bonuses (mods are not consumed and can be changed with Calus tokens)
  • Prestige raid now gives you double drops like it used to
  • Encounters will now always drop a raid piece, and any encounter can drop anything from any part of the raid
  • Raid vendor now sells a rotating stock of raid gear to help complete your set
  • There’s a new exotic Ghost Shell that can drop in the raid that gives you a chance to get Bright Engrams and non-dupe exotics from raid encounters

Again, a lot of this is the old “this should have been how it was at the start” problem, but it’s hard to argue these changes are anything but good, no matter what previous mistakes may have been. The Ghost Shell is going to be the new, most sought-after item as it’s the only truly new thing being added (besides mods), so I think raiders are going to have a lot of fun with this update. Everyone else…may not be quite as excited.

Destiny 2

Random Stuff

  • Prometheus Lens is getting some kind of buff after being nerfed into non-existence a few weeks ago
  • Heroic Strikes will now drop exotics more often
  • Notifications that your Postmaster is full
  • Mercury challenges show up during Infinite Forrest adventures
  • It takes longer to dismantle Masterwork Cores

All good changes, though I’m most curious to try out the new Prometheus Lens to see if it’s actually worth using now. It was a lot of fun before, even if it totally ruined PvP (and by ruined I mean made it 10x more fun, actually).

Again, this is a very raid-heavy update so if that’s your bag, you should be excited. If not, well, I’m not sure how much there is to draw you back. Masterwork armor is probably not the most exciting of goals right now, so you may want to keep waiting until future updates or DLC to return. That’s probably what I’m going to do. After all, these monsters aren’t going to hunt themselves.

This update should be live this afternoon as Destiny

2 has just gone down for maintenance as we speak.

Follow them on Twitter and on Facebook. Pick up my sci-fi novel series, The Earthborn Trilogy, which is now in print, online and on audiobook.

Destiny 2 players find new loot exploit for Faction Rally

Your daily selection of the hottest trending gaming news!

According to Polygon

Destiny 2’s second Faction Rally event is live, and with it, a new way to cheese through it. Last week, developer Bungie nerfed a method that people had been using to farm faction tokens during the previous Faction Rally — so players simply came up with something else this time.

The new farming technique comes from a Destiny YouTuber who goes by Houndish. Here’s how it works:

  1. Spawn into the Winding Cove area of Earth’s European Dead Zone, and head to your right to the Lost Sector. (Look for a group of boulders with dead trees scattered around them.)
  2. This will lead you into a network of caves known as The Weep. Clean out the Lost Sector as usual, taking out the boss — Rannix, Drenched Captain — and collecting the loot from the chest at the end. (Note that you won’t have to bother with shooting the enemy supplies anymore, since they no longer reward you with tokens.)
  3. Above the loot chest, you’ll see a pathway out of the Lost Sector. Clamber up those rocks and make your way out of The Weep; you’ll know you’ve gone far enough when you see the Winding Cove location pop up in the bottom left corner of the screen.
  4. At that point, simply turn around and go back the way you came. You’ll soon end up right above the Lost Sector’s loot chest. Amazingly, you’ll be able to claim the treasures within — including three faction tokens — without even having to defeat the Captain again.

In his video explaining the farming method, Houndish says he was able to open the chest once every 20-30 seconds. He racked up 140 tokens in just 15-20 minutes, so in an hour of farming, it would be possible to reach the Faction Rally cap of 400 tokens (each package costs 20 tokens, and you’re limited to 20 packages during the event).

As exploits go, this is an extraordinarily easy and, well, exploitative one — so expect Bungie to put the kibosh on it with a hotfix post-haste. In other words, you might want to take advantage of this strategy while you still can. This week’s Faction Rally runs from Nov. 7-13.

Destiny 2’s Iron Banner has a fun Overwatch Easter egg

Overwatch and Destiny 2 are connected thanks to parent company Activision Blizzard and the fact that both games will be on Blizzard’s Battle.net service on PC.

Your daily selection of the hottest trending gaming news!

According to Polygon

Sounds like a death blossom

Destiny 2’s Iron Banner kicked off today, bringing back the competitive multiplayer event from the original Destiny. Bungie’s return to Iron Banner has at least one very fun Easter egg in the form of a shoutout to fellow Battle.net title Overwatch.

Wayne Ng was playing Iron Banner in Destiny 2 today — and playing quite well — when he noticed an obvious reference to Overwatch’s moodiest bad guy, Reaper. Ng says he pulled off a 20-player kill streak and was greeted with the following extended voice line from announcer Lord Saladin.

The Easter egg starts about 15 seconds into the YouTube video below:

If you can’t quite make that out, here’s what Saladin says: “Die! Die! Di-*cough* Sorry I’ve been watching too many Iron Banner matches. What time is it? Shaxx? Shaxx, are you there? Can you get me a water? Stop yelling, it’s just a question. I’m not old!”

Overwatch and Destiny 2 are connected thanks to parent company Activision Blizzard and the fact that both games will be on Blizzard’s Battle.net service on PC. They also have a connection in their voice actors: Keith Ferguson performs the characters of Overwatch’s Reaper and Destiny’s Lord Saladin.

Thanks to Ng for capturing this moment, because based on my Iron Banner performance so far this morning, there’s no way I was going to hear this voice line firsthand.

Destiny 2 Faction Rallies Are Live

Your daily selection of the hottest trending gaming news!

According to GameSpot

Destiny 2’s Faction Rallies are now live, bringing with them exclusive rewards packages including weapons, armor, and shaders. We can also see the in-game location of Destiny 2‘s Faction Rally leaders Arach Jalaal (who represents Dead Orbit), Lakshmi-2 (Future War Cult), and Executor Hideo (New Monarchy).

Those three characters are now available to talk to in Destiny 2’s Tower. Arach Jalaal and Lakshmi-2 are situated in the Hangar, while Executor Hideo is currently in the Bazaar. We had some trouble finding them at our first attempt, but if you quit to orbit and reload the location, then the trio should appear.

location, then the trio should appear.

Faction Rallies see you pledge your allegiance to one of three factions. You can then fight for your faction by simply playing the game. In the process you’ll earn Rewards Tokens, which you can trade for exclusive weapons and emblems, among other items. An in-game description reads: “To earn tokens for Level 20 rewards, destroy supplies in Lost Sectors and do Public Events, Crucible matches, Strikes, and the Leviathan Raid.”

Each faction has a “powerful weapon” that is specific to it–Dead Orbit has a scout rifle, Future War Cult a pulse rifle, and New Monarchy a sidearm. At the end of the event, the faction that collected the most packages is named the winner, and its weapon will be sold to all players for 50,000 glimmer. Members of the winning faction will be able to purchase it for only 1,000 glimmer. The winner will be named at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM BST on October 3 (3 AM AEST on October 4 in Australia).

Take a look at the leaders’ locations (and the factions’ exclusive powerful weapons) above. For more, check out the latest Destiny 2 update 1.0.3 patch notes or our Destiny 2 raid guide. You can also check out our gallery of all the weapons, gear, and rewards in Destiny 2’s Faction Rallies.

Sources: Destiny 2 Coming To PC, Aims To Feel Like A Totally New Game

Destiny 2, the currently unannounced 2017 sequel to Destiny, is coming to PC, according to several sources. The first game was exclusive to consoles, much to the dismay of Destiny fans with beefy computers. We also hear that Bungie aims to make Destiny 2 feel like an entirely new game rather than a Taken King-style expansion—even if that means leaving old characters behind.

The PC rumor first popped up on NeoGAF today. This afternoon, a GAF poster named benny_a wrote that a friend at Activision had told him that Destiny’s much-anticipated sequel will indeed be on PC. The publisher informed employees about the news during an internal presentation today, according to benny_a. He added another interesting tidbit: that the Activision-owned studio Vicarious Visions is also helping out on Destiny 2. Although that isn’t public knowledge, I had heard the same thing a few weeks ago, which adds credence to benny_a’s report.

Earlier this year, I’d also heard from a person familiar with Bungie’s plans thatDestiny 2, which is currently slated for a late 2017 release, will be on PC. This isn’t a shocker. Releasing Destiny’s sequel on PC will give Bungie access to a giant new potential audience, one that wasn’t around for the first game. Ditching last-gen consoles, which Bungie has already done for the recently released Rise of Iron expansion, ensures that they no longer have to worry about antiquated memory restrictions.

Over the past few months, I’ve heard that Bungie’s leadership wants Destiny 2 to feel like a proper sequel, even if that means leaving old planets, characters, and activities behind. In conversations with me, people connected to Bungie have made comparisons to Blizzard’s Diablo 2, which iterated on the first game in some incredible ways but didn’t carry over characters or content from Diablo. I don’t know exactly how much will change in Destiny 2, but all signs point to the developers starting from scratch. “D2 is a completely different game,” said one person familiar with development. “The Taken King was a reboot for Destiny 1 to fix small things. This is the overhaul to fix big things.”

One of the terms we’ll be hearing often with Destiny 2, according to sources, is “play-in destinations”—a new activity model that will revamp how Destiny’s world functions. The plan, from what I’ve heard, is for Destiny 2‘s planet areas to feel more populated with towns, outposts, and quests that are more interesting than the patrol missions you can get in Destiny.

Assuming Destiny 2 won’t let players carry over their old characters, Bungie will likely offer something to players who have poured hundreds of hours into the first game. (Last I heard, Bungie has not yet finalized these decisions.)

In April, according to several sources, Bungie had a staff reorganization. During this process, The Taken King director Luke Smith and executive producer Mark Noseworthy became, respectively, director and executive producer of Destiny 2. They rebooted the story that had been written up to that point. A number of veteran Bungie staffers also left the studio around that time. Some went to big companies; others moved into indie development.

The bulk of Bungie’s 750+ employees are working on Destiny 2, and Activision has also recruited other studios including High Moon, Vicarious Visions, and others to help with development on the game, according to sources.

Reps for Bungie have not yet returned a request for comment.
